MBW 's news

I am officially on a quest to find a picture for my header. It's been like that for way too long.
Wish me luck.

It's been a busy week. And there's nothing I love more than a completely lazy Sunday when I'm tired and need to catch up on my sleep.
I spent the entire day in my pj's watching movies and surfing around blogs.
I know tomorrow I'll be complaining about not using my time for productive things. But I enjoyed it.

I am currently burning a CD to listen to while driving. I downloaded several Augustana's songs that I didn't yet had. Augustana is my favorite band ever. It's the perfect driving music. And I love driving.

iTC
is starting tomorrow and I'm now ready for it. I have decided my goals:
  1. Stop biting my nails so much.
  2. Stick to my diet. Use EFT whenever I have sugar cravings. Eat an apple instead!
  3. Organize my time/ catch up with school.
  4. Stop wasting so much time on the web.
  5. Work out.
  6. Enjoy every day, every breath, very, very much.
  7. Work on my art projects.
  8. Stop complaining, stressing and fretting about silly, little things, and other not so small, or silly things. Use a bracelet to change from hand to hand.
It's a lot, but I'm having a tight month, and they 're all connected so it's all right.

A girl suggested in iCiNG to hang paper cranes around the house to remind us about the iTC. I'm going to do that too!

Good luck with your goals everyone!

Hey! Not to be totally awkward, but I found your blog through iCiNG - I'm doing the Transformation Challenge. Ironically enough, 'stop biting my nails' is the first one on my list, too!

Anyway, good luck with your goals! <3

Thank you so much! Good luck to you too!
How have you been coping?
I polished my nails red so I won't bite them. That helps insanely, really.
We wouldn't want to ruin them when they're all prettily done, would we?

Do you have any tips?

Hey, I have an idea, let's support each other with this goal! I think It'd help. Let me know what you think!

Ack! I'm so oblivious! Sorry for taking so long!

I usually like painting my nails, too - bright red even!

I've been trying to leave as many of them along as possible, but I have one nail that always get nibbled on.

I think I just need to find something to keep my hands occupied. I know that I go after my left hand a lot while I'm surfing the webs with my right. Maybe one of those stress balls would be good? :P

You know, I've considered doing like daily hand photos - so there's something to keep me accountable for my actions. Think that would help at all?

hey that could work. I should definitely try that.

I do have kind of an oral fixation too. Right now I haven't been biting my nails, the nail lacquer has definitely helped, but I'm nibbing on my fingers constantly, so I've tried to replace it with something else, too. I don't have a stress ball, but for example, today while I answered a long test, I decided it was better to chew a gum instead. I've realized it sort of releases stress (I've been observing and I always relapse when I'm stressed or worried, which I'm constantly are) and I learned that gum has the same effect, so I gave it a try, and it did help.

I'm glad I have been sticking to this goal. I went away for the weekend and I've been slacking on most my goals, and that's sort of bringing me down!
But, I can't let it, can I? I guess I'll make it part of the iTC too.

Great idea about the pictures! Let's see how it goes.

Gum chewing can help a lot - I used that last year when I first tried to stop the biting.

I'm totally the same about stress. I had nice nails last year - I had finally given up biting on them - but then I had a terrible job over the summer and horrible roommate at the beginning of August that I'm surprised I even have fingers left!

I kind of think of it like quitting smoking, though. They say that in all likelihood you won't quit the first time you try - but it is possible to quit, just don't be too hard on yourself and keep trying. I mean, it's not a chemical addiction like smoking is, but it's a force of habit that you've been doing for like 15 years. I gets pretty well ingrained into you.

Are you starting to see some progress with your hands? I'm just starting to get some white tips back to the nails that were sacrificed to stress about two weeks ago. It's nice to have fingers that don't look quite so nubby.

You know, I think a manicure would be a great way to celebrate the end of the iTC :D

It is hard to break this habit! Well, I have had this habit for most of my life! My mom had it when I was little so I guess that's where it came from, but she's over it.
I am not.
Sometimes what I've done is to get acrylics. That keps me from biting my nails and they grow. Once they's ve grown enough and pretty, I go and remove the acrylics and polish my natural nails.

Up to yesterday my nails where growing and pretty, but doing something got into me that I've been biting them quite a lot. The polish is all chipped and if I don't re-do them soon I'll ruin them. LOL.
So yes, I am making some progress, today I'm just slipping off a little. But that always happens. I've been through this quite a few times. But since like 2 years ago, I've gotten better at it and I haven't bit them SO badly, I still bite them though.

And a manicure sounds like an excellent idea! I've been wanting to go for a while so this is the perfect excuse!

Though beans buddy!

I made a point of stopping and getting a pack of gum today - the tips of my polish are wearing off, too, so I need to keep the temptation away.

Unfortunately, one of my nails broke today. I did some googling and I think I need to crank up my vitamin B intake.

I also need to stop tearing at the skin around my nails. I have some cuticle oil stuff that's supposed to help heal that - I should use it more often.

Ooo, acrylics sound like a good idea - maybe you should put a set on until the biting urge passes? And even if it does pass relatively quickly, you'll still have a nice shield protecting your natural nails. :D

Good luck in finishing up week two!

vitamin b? I guess I do too.

but yesterday I was in a rush and I wasn't able to re-do my nails and I'm caving in again! cringe!
and omg I'm terrible with the skin-tearing thing, that's one of my main problems.
But I can't give in!!!
I'll re polish my nails ASAP!

good luck you too:)!

I'm definitely less fixated on my nails lately. Unfortunately, that just means that I'm picking at the skin around them more D:

Although checking back here totally made me remember to get out my cuticle oil stuff. Gave myself a nice little tips of the fingers massage :P

Unfortunately, this stuff smells almost like sugar cookies - so tempting!

I decided to do some pictures - ugh my hands are all bloated - boo!

Left
Right

And don't give in! Think of the manicure!

Maybe if you don't have time for the whole polish - just throw on a layer of top coat? Just having them shiny might help to keep the bitey away?

Stay strong!

dearest vieve!
I'm so sorry for taking so long but we had holidays down here and my life's been a little crazy!
My nails were perfectly fine (again) till, my polish became all chipped yesterday and since it was late and I needed to sleep I just removed it. Today a had a math test. Go figure.
But I'm really glad to have found you're comment, for it's pushing me back on track!
And since my life's been so crazy and un-scheduled lately, I haven't taken any pictures, but I will!
